Summary of Landulph Festival 2023

What a great festival! Nearly 700 people attended the 8 events, the art exhibition ran throughout the festival and was open all 4 weekends with cream teas available on 3 days. We are still counting up the money and working out what we can donate to charity but it is safe to say that the bar was well attended! We hope you enjoyed the events you came to and we'd really welcome your feedback and any thoughts on the Festival in 2024.

Murder By Appointment

Great evening at the 1920's Murder Mystery! Thanks for a brilliant start to the festival …so much hard work behind the scenes (and on the night!) and so much delight for those who attended. Also, thanks to the chefs for cooking us all such a good dinner.

Medical Maelstrom

The three Cornish doctors, Michele Sharkey, Sam Freegard and Anthony Seddon, are renowned throughout the Duchy for their unique genre of music, singing and comedy. As ever, it was a veritable maelstrom of musical genius and mindboggling cabaret that proved laughter is indeed the best medicine.

Philippa Mo & Romano Viazzani

Last night, we positively glided into the second weekend of the Landulph Music and Arts Festival with two world class classical musicians gracing the stage together for the first time as a duo. Acclaimed violinist, Philippa Mo, and award winning piano accordionist, Romano Viazzani, led us on an extraordinary journey through dark and light as they transcended borders and genres with the unforgettable ease one could only witness from outstanding musicians. 

Freshly Squeezed

Don’t think I’ve ever seen Landulph Memorial Hall quite so funked up! The combination of the festival cocktails and the fabulous band that is “Freshly Squeezed” meant a large dash of a soul, funk, hip hop, electronica, horn section mash up had the dance floor totally stomping. The 8 member outfit are such a brilliant mix of old and new styles it seemed to appeal to everyone’s dancing feet. So fantastic to see. 

The Stowes

Always something different at the Landulph Festival. On Friday night The Stowes entertained us with foot tapping jigs and rousing singing.

Derek Gow

A few technical difficulties delayed the start of Derek Gow's presentation delivered by zoom. Although not all of the audience agreed with all of his points, there was general agreement that he made some interesting points on the impact of humans on nature, whether this matters and how beavers can regenerate land for nature and mitigate flooding.

Johnny Cowling

As always Johnny Cowling had the audience in stitches and once more he made the most of a few over-cooked pasties.

Barrett's Privateers

The clocks may have gone back but last night we traversed time to end the 22nd Landulph Festival in true shanty style with much loved local Cornish favourites, Barrett's Privateers. The black and white of Cornwall ran right through the heart of the night, as did the memory of our dear festival friend, Gareth Edwards, remembered with a rousing and touching rendition of his favourite song. He would have loved it. All proceeds of this year's festival will be donated to Pancreatic Cancer UK in his memory.
